introduction

You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star! – Friedrich Nietzsche

Welcome to waifette.com: an outpouring of art, verse, and general nonsense.  Creating allows me to make sense of life. Whether it’s a drawing, photo, haiku, story, bracelet, collage, or scarf, the labor of creation gives my life meaning.

The above quote was introduced to me in high school, when my AP Euro teacher suggested I check out Nietzsche, saying “he’s dark, you’ll love it.”  I did.  I etched the quote *found on page 11 of my edition of Thus Spoke Zarathustra* onto the whites of my black Chuck Taylor Converse high tops, and it has been my mantra ever since.  I have it tattooed on my back, in my handwriting, in the shape of a star.  It is always at the root of everything I experience.  Life is chaotic, and harnessing the chaos within myself allows me to function with a balance against the universe.

Through my photography, writing, music, and other hobbies I have learned to pour that chaos out, spreading dancing stars around me everywhere I go.  This is my personal webspace to share my work with the world.

Enjoy!

“What is meant here by saying that existence precedes essence? It means first of all, man exists, turns up, appears on the scene, and, only afterwards, defines himself. If man, as the existentialist conceives him, is indefinable, it is because at first he is nothing. Only afterward will he be something, and he himself will have made what he will be.”
-Jean Paul Sartre
