This book reads not like a book, but like a series of letters from an old friend. The book is made up of vignettes and sketches that give the reader a glimpse into the world of the author, and the importance smoking has had in her life. Stories include from her first love to how her parents found out she was a smoker. There is also very deep subject matter into the philosophy of smoking, and the history of tobacco. I never realized until I read this book that tobacco had so much to do with the American Revolution.
This is a beautifully created work, and the author herself a very talented writer. I would recommend this book to anyone smoker or not to read and enjoy.
